Pengertian & Contoh Reklame

Reklame adalah media periklanan besar, yang biasa ditempatkan pada area yang sering dilalui, misalnya pada sisi persimpangan jalan raya yang padat. Reklame berasal dari kata re-clamare (bahasa Latin: Re=berulang, clamare=seruan).
Reklame berisi iklan yang ditujukan untuk dilihat pejalan kaki maupun pengendara kendaraan bermotor yang melewatinya. Reklame umumnya berisi ilustrasi yang besar dan menarik, disertai dengan slogan.
Di Indonesia, terdapat kecenderungan membedakan reklame dan iklan berdasarkan kategori penempatannya; sehingga reklame digunakan untuk menyebutkan media periklanan ruang luar , sedangkan iklan untuk menyebutkan media periklanan ruang dalam.
Bila ditinjau dari etimologinya, reklame dan iklan mempunyai makna yang setara. Iklan dari kata i'lan (bahasa Arab) berarti pengumuman, dan reklame berarti seruan yang berulang; maka kedua istilah yang terkait dengan media periklanan ini mengandung makna yang setara yaitu untuk kegiatan penyampaian informasi kepada masyarakat atau khalayak sasaran pesan.
